Making an RC plane with Dad

 
Well, Hamish and Murray are getting more skilled at flying their beginner RC plane, the Cub. Today when they went out, they only crashed it once (Murray), and Hamish flew into only one tree (Murray climbed the tree, which was just outside Metchosin Councel chambers, so he got to give the mayor a little pep-talk on treaty negotiations while he was there). I think the only thing they have to repair after this most recent mission is the wheels? Hamish's enthusiasm is so infectious that he has got Murray building RC planes from scratch. This one pictured here was flown today as well. Hamish came back afterwards saying "I told Dada that it was going to be tail heavy but he would not listen!" Hamish spends hours watchign RC plane flights on YouTube and gets all sorts of great ideas from there.

Well, it may be hard to believe, but the kids were playing at the beach earlier this week, and I was wishign I had packed their swim suits. Younger members of the delegation were (predictably) naked. Fenna was barefoot and bare-legged... agh.... it's tough living in this paradise.

Fuller Lake Tourney for Hamish

Val, Barry and the girls came to cheer Hamish on to his first tournament goal!!! (and also to play with planes in the parking lot between games.

We took a quick trip to visit Val and family this past weekend. They then accompanied us to Hamish's hockey tourney at Fuller Lake (see next post).

Hamish is still incredibly interested in anything that flies (three years and counting). Here are his recent constructiosn from this past week (yes, just a week). The RC airplane is still under construction-- every day Murray and he are getting closer to launch day. In the meantime, all our cardboard has been "recycled" by our resident aeronautical engineer.

The baidarka project has been held up since 2005, but may be showing signs of progress. This afternoon a friend, Craig, and I moved her from storage to my house. I can't stop grinning. Looks a little threadbare, no? I'll try to remedy that soon.

Good Times at Xmas

These two appreciative folk want to say "wicked, awesome, sweet, wow" to the hosts of the Christmas Festivities out at the Cedar Beach Resort. Thank you as well to the other guests. It was a fantastic time and both Tacita and I had a real hoot.
